The mama turns the eggs a few times everyday)  Then increased the humidity...and said a prayer....OK lots of them.

As of lunch today, I have made these successfully twice, so it is time to share.
Now, I am a bad blogger in that I forgot to take pictures of the first few steps.  So let's pretend that there is a picture of the ingredients

1 tablespoon yeast

1 ¼ cup warm water

1 teaspoon salt

3- 3 ½ cups flour



Dissolve yeast in water for about 5 minutes in the bowl of an electric mixer. The forcast today!</title><summary type='text'>EGGS and lots of em!  Finally my "baby" chicks and ducks have figured things out.  Yesterday we got 13 eggs, 4 of which were duck (or turkey, not sure I've actually seen a turkey egg yet)  That means out of the 12 hens, 9 laid yesterday!  WoOHoO!!!

Seriously....I'm ready for someone else's life to be full of drama.  I'm done!

As you saw below, our doggie is hurt.  We think she was hit by a car on Monday.  The damage to her front leg is serious.  She had two very, very deep cuts and is not able to feel the leg or foot so she is still "walking" on it.  This is bad because she is "walking" on the front (where the wounds are).

Duck Stew (younger drake) and Hen, and 8 of our older layers (including our 1st Buffy) are all going to freezer camp.  We are very solemn about this (despite how we describe it) as we know these wonderful birds will feed us this winter.  They have been loved (mostly) and we hate to see them go.

I really, really didn't like them....at all!  Now you might try it and get a better batch, but I'm not even sure I'm going to take the time to do it again to see if maybe it was just a bad batch.

It's time to expand our horizons.  Time to quite turning up our noses at things we wouldn't even consider as kids.

4 cups lilac blossoms, green parts removed

4 cups boiling water
8 tablespoons lemon juice
2 packages powdered pectin
8 cups sugar
First, pick all the flowers off the stems...don't leave any of the green or the bugs...


Rinse lilacs and place in a large glass or stainless steal container. Cover with boiling water, cover with a lid and let sit for 24 hours. In doing some research, I've discovered that the Martins are not actually quite what I've been lead to believe....

#1 Martins fly and catch insects during the day....mosquitoes fly at night....so really only the mosquitoes that are not wrapped right actually get caught by Martins.

The BAD news is...that I don't need a Root Canal!

I really didn't WANT a root canal...but I was hoping that they would say..."You know all that pain in your face??Well, you have a bad tooth that we missed previously...(or fill in something) and you need a root canal.  Now all the pain in your face/head will stop."
