A great book to read....

I don't have a lot of time to just sit and read....but on my 101 in 1001 list, I committed to reading at least 1 book a month.  A fun book.  I read / look at tons of nonfiction "how do I do that" books.  Most have been pretty good so far.  I have two on reserve at the library that I am almost afraid to admit the titles, but I've read reviews that the one is a fun book (a romp through the 80s!) and the other is a tear jerker.  (Not really what I need considering my mood lately...)

But yesterday I finished, not one, but TWO books! The first was set in the first Acts church from the time of Annais' lie to Stephen's stoning.  It was very well written.  Most books that I pick take about a week to read...this one took about 5 weeks.  It was very involved.

While working through that one, I picked up another at the library that I liked the cover picture.  Silly I know.  But it was nothing like I have ever read before.  I am stunned with how good it was.  Gritty, emotional, sweet.  It deals with Guardian Angels (all of the different types of angels--did you know there are different types?).  I don't want to give too much away because you should read it --REALLY!  It is good!!!!

"The Guardian Angel's Journal" by Carolyn Jess-Cooke.

Forever ago (2nd grade -- when I was selected to attend the Young Author's Conference for our school) I decided I wanted to write novels, books, short stories, anything but poetry. When that well-known author (I have no idea who now) mentioned MY story in front of the whole conference, I knew what I was to become.  Throughout my life, it's tickled the back of my mind.  I am a part of groups on facebook and yahoo for struggling writers.  I can write, but I don't think I do it very well.  I may well be too "folksy" and really not willing to put on a different "persona" to write.  Sometimes, I feel like the imagination that I once had has vanished.  And I am reminded, when I was a child, I did as a child, now that I am an adult, it is time to put away childish things....

Anyway....read this book!!

I think you are a good writer.
Besides, putting away childish things does NOT mean putting away dreams or talents. :-)
