2020 101 in 1001 Update!!

LONG, LONG POST!!!

Here it is, September 28, 2020.  What a challenging year it has been for everyone, including us.  I'm always disappointed that I don't get the whole list done, but boy, we did get some big things accomplished!  I have already started my list for the next period of my life and can't wait to share it.

I haven't been blogging much as I feel like most folks don't have time for my wordiness...but I have been good about updating on our Farm Facebook page. However, if you think I should get back to writing, I'd love to hear it!!

My commentary and updates will be within my list below in italics.

The 101 in 1001 List (2018-2020 Edition)

Here's the explanation again:

You make a list of 101 things you would like to do.
You aim to get everything ticked off in 1001 days.

It’s that simple.

The rules? Each task must be specific, with clearly defined or measurable results. Tasks must also be realistic — something I believe I can accomplish within 1001 days — and stretching; I can’t add things I already do or which don’t require any effort.

Why 1001 days? “The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time…because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks.”

It seems like a reasonable amount of time to get a lot of stuff done! I'm still working on my list for now though, it will be published and ready to start on Thursday January 1, 2018 and hopefully everything will be ticked of by September 28, 2020.

Spiritual

My spiritual life is going OK. Lots of praying and turning to the Lord, but not so much on the journaling and studying like I should.  I'd like to blame COVID for my lack of corporate worship, but that would be untrue. We left the church we were going to at the beginning of the list and have been following our previous pastor & teachers online.  I miss the fellowship, but right now this is mostly working for us.

This one is a doozey.  Not only did I not make much progress, I made it worse!! On the plus side, the car and the tractor are paid off.  However, we added a mortgage and 2 cards...yikes!  This will be a major focus on the next challenge.

Extended Family & Friends

My schedule is so over packed that rarely do I take time to do the good things that make me feel like a loving person.  I was able to get some of these things at least attempted...these will show up in some form again because it makes me happy to do it.

2. Take them a Meal (12/15) ALMOST THERE
3. Do 12 Days of Christmas x2 (6/2)
4. Spend one on one time with a friend each month (15/33) ALMOST HALF!
5. Plan (& Execute) 50th Anniversary Party for Mom & Dad (11/30/18) DONE AND IT WAS AWESOME!
6. Plan (& Execute) 4th of July Blow Out for Man's BIG birthday/ FARM WARMING PARTY (Man didn't want me to make it about him)(7/4/2018) DONE AND ALSO AWESOME!!
7. Plan (& Execute) Graduation Party for Boy's Graduation (6/1/2019) DONE AND INCREDIBLE(despite the rain)

5. Do the Race to Save Face 2018:.  2018, 2019, 2020 WERE ALL CANCELLED
6. Do the 100 day / 100 Mile Walking Challenge (and turn it in!!!) (0/100) DIDNT TURN IT IN

12. NaNoWriMo 1X NOVEMBER IS SUCH A HARD MONTH TO HAVE SUCH A DIFFICULT CHALLENGE.  I definitely want to do this but it keeps getting put off...maybe one more try.

Scrapbooking

This section is one I RRALLY want to do, but was a major failure!! I think because no one actually looks at my pages and books after they are done and I'm a people pleaser and need that feedback.  Doing it just because I love it doesn't get it high up on the list of priorities 😂

3. Do the "Tiffany" Challenge once a year (3/3) DONE, I need to quit organizing my stuff and start using it!!

6. Learn a & Utilize my Cricut & Cartridges (0/20)
7. Submit Entry 1x yearly to a Design Team Call
8. Finish Arizona Book (0/40)

Boy

My Boy is now a Man.  Luckily, he does still like doing stuff with Mom, but doesn't have the time like when he was my homeschool sidekick. So this section is generally a failure.

4. Start (and Finish) mom journal (10/200)
5. Take a family train trip

House

Ugh, another one that is almost a complete failure!  

1. Declutter & Reorganize 1 room/area each month (6/18) I did a whole house challenge at the beginning of the 'pandemic' and really cleaned and decluttered the house, especially my scrapbook room.  However it has not been an ongoing thing like I'd hoped.
2. Paint / Update Big Bath
3. New Sink in Small Bath
4. Floors refinished Downstairs floors
5. Paint Laundry Room
6. Regrout Tub Must get this done soon!  Tiles are falling off the wall now!
7. Paint Master Bedroom

Food

This section is mostly a success!

1. Use Instant Pot once a week (143/143) I love my instapot... especially for "hard-boiled" eggs and yogurt!
2. Write and use a menu plan 85% of the time (321/850) This is not quite half the time.
3. Organize Jam recipes Currently in progress and about 75% done!
4. Make marshmallows NOPE
5. Can 500 jars(1,896/500) YES, REALLY!!

Other Crafts

More failure!

1. FINISH MILLY! PLEASE, Don't make fun of me.  I really really though I could get it done this time (especially since all 4 people I told said, I couldn't). This is the one that kinda hurts.

The farm is what has really had the attention the past few years.

Financial

5. Books done Monthly by the 5th of the month (0/33)
6. 5th Annual Really Local Festival (10/13/2018) DONE(and also the 6th, and 7th is next week!!)

Construction /Infrastructure

1. Put in Pond UNBELIEVABLY DONE!!
2. Fence Pastures IN PROGRESS
3. Horse/Grain Barn Taken Down
4. Pond Cabin
5. Hydroponics/Fish Set up.

Plants

1. Plant Pine Trees - 10 per year (0/30) Umm, not quite.
2. Expand soft fruit orchard
1. Red Raspberries   Planted
2. Blueberries.   Planted and died
3. Golden Raspberries
4. Black Raspberries  Planted
3. Plant Bamboo and/or Hops DECIDED AGAINST
4. Green House or Hoophouse. I have two small temporary greenhouses that keep flying away...

2. Facebook Likes to 450 (650/450) JUST GOT TO 900!!!
3. Offer Quarterly Classes (08/11) I've offered, but no one has taken me up on them, did hold 3 Chalk classes.
4. Blog Consistency 3 times a week (12/429) Uh, no.
5. Participate in Blog Hop each Month (0/33) Not even
6. Facebook Consistency 2x weekly (286/286) This was definitely done as I post almost every other day.
7. Create Homestead Binder Currently in progress.  I'd say maybe 50% done.
